Starkville Swim Team’s Ultimate Relay Fundraiser

News Summary

The Starkville Swim Team is planning its Ultimate Relay fundraiser on April 12 at the Sanderson Center. This exciting event will feature a two-hour relay competition aimed at raising funds for new equipment and travel expenses. Highlights include participants switching strokes every 30 minutes and exciting prizes for the winning teams. As the team grows and strives for success, community support is crucial for the young athletes’ future competitions.

Exciting Times Ahead for Starkville Swimmers!

Starkville is buzzing with excitement as the Starkville Swim Team gears up for their eagerly anticipated fundraiser, the Ultimate Relay, set to take place on April 12 at the renowned Mississippi State University’s Sanderson Center. This event promises to not only showcase the impressive accomplishments of our local young athletes from the past year but also to raise much-needed funds to support future swimming endeavors.

What’s the Ultimate Relay All About?

The Ultimate Relay will resemble a lively swimathon where teams of four will engage in a thrilling two-hour relay, swimming as many laps as possible in a friendly competition. Swimmers will switch their strokes every 30 minutes, keeping things fresh and exciting in the water. What’s even more fun are the prizes that await the team that swims the most laps in each stroke category!

Why Are They Fundraising?

You might be wondering where the funds raised during this fun-filled event are headed. The money collected will go directly toward purchasing new equipment and covering travel expenses for competitions. This financial support is crucial for helping the Starkville swimmers qualify for top meets across the country, making it possible for these talented athletes to shine on bigger stages.

Spotlight on Achievements

This has already been a stellar year for the Starkville Swim Team. Team members Breih Magnanua, aged 17, and Teddy Brain, aged 14, recently competed at the prestigious Best of the South swim meet in Atlanta. Brain made waves by finishing in sixth place out of 90 competitors in the 100-meter freestyle event—a truly commendable achievement! Local coach Melissa Hubley mentioned how essential travel funds are, especially since the closest meet is in Tupelo. Each dollar raised supports these dedicated swimmers in their competition journey.

Be Part of the Community Spirit!

The Starkville Swim Team is committed to building stronger connections within the Starkville community. After becoming an independent team last year—formerly known as Shockwave, with chapters in nearby Oxford and Tupelo—the current Starkville squad encompasses 45 swimmers aged between 6 and 17. Participating in around 8-10 meets annually, they are eager to expand their horizons, which makes events like the Ultimate Relay even more important.

Sponsor Opportunities Available!

If you feel inspired to support these remarkable young athletes, there are various donation tiers for sponsors including platinum, gold, silver, bronze, and even individual sponsorship options. Contributions can be made on-site during the event or via PayPal for your convenience. Every little bit counts and goes a long way in facilitating the dreams and aspirations of these amazing swimmers!

This season alone, 11 swimmers from the Starkville Swim Team qualified for the state meet and earned medals—an achievement worth celebrating! As they look forward to the next season, the team is already working hard to enhance their skills and prepare for future challenges.

Mark Your Calendars!

Make sure to mark your calendars for April 12 and come out to support the Starkville Swim Team at the Ultimate Relay! It promises to be an incredible event filled with friendly competition and a fantastic community atmosphere. Let’s come together to celebrate our local swimmers and help them make their dreams a reality!
