Starkville Academy has introduced a new program called Project: Engage, aimed at enhancing student engagement through real-world learning experiences for Junior and Senior students. Offering opportunities for international travel, Project: Engage is designed to build responsibility and community involvement, facilitating connections between students and local businesses for future partnerships.
Starkville—Starkville Academy has launched a groundbreaking initiative called Project: Engage aimed at enhancing student engagement in education through real-world learning experiences. This program, which has been operational for three years, specifically targets Junior and Senior students at the academy.
Project: Engage encourages students to venture beyond their comfort zones by immersing themselves in new subjects and environments for one week every January. The program offers a diverse range of subjects for exploration, including Culinary Arts, Archaeology, and Veterinary Medicine.
This unique educational initiative also provides students with the opportunity to secure internships with local businesses and participate in international travel experiences. This year, students will have the chance to visit historical locations in Italy and Greece as part of their educational experience.
In a distinct twist on traditional homework, Project: Engage incorporates community service projects into its curriculum. Students participating in the program are required to engage in community service, with previous projects including partnerships with Habitat for Humanity, where students have helped build homes for those in need.
The Project: Engage Coordinator emphasized the program’s focus on the significance of students contributing to their home communities. This approach not only enhances their learning experience but also instills a sense of responsibility and community involvement.
As the program seeks to expand its offerings, it is actively looking for community partners to help develop new courses and provide additional internship opportunities for students. Local businesses and organizations interested in collaborating with Project: Engage can reach out to Starkville Academy for potential partnership opportunities.
The initiative aims to provide students not only with valuable real-world experience but also a deeper connection to their communities. By encouraging student participation in various projects and courses, Project: Engage seeks to foster a generation of engaged and socially responsible individuals.
Starkville Academy is committed to providing a holistic and engaging educational environment for its students. Since the inception of Project: Engage three years ago, the program has received positive feedback from students and parents for its innovative approach to learning. By focusing on experiential education, the academy aims to prepare students for the challenges of the modern world and inspire them to explore their passions.
As the program continues to evolve, Starkville Academy remains dedicated to enhancing the educational experience for its students through Project: Engage and fostering stronger connections between the school and the wider community.
