Starkville, Mississippi – Evan Siary, a pitcher for the Mississippi State Bulldogs baseball team, delivered an outstanding performance on May 9, leading his team to victory against the No. 24 Ole Miss in a game marking a pivotal moment in his career. Siary recorded a remarkable 15 strikeouts during the game, setting a new career-high while also establishing the most strikeouts by any pitcher in conference play for the 2025 season.
Siary’s stellar outing took place during the second game of the doubleheader at Dudy Noble Field, where he pitched eight innings without allowing a run and scattered six hits. His ability to maintain control was evident as he did not issue any walks and threw a total of 98 pitches, 76 of which were strikes. This commanding performance not only secured a 4-1 win for the Bulldogs but also improved Siary’s record to 2-1 for the season and lowered his earned run average (ERA) to 4.06.
In addition to his exceptional game against Ole Miss, Siary’s 15 strikeouts tied him for the most strikeouts recorded by an SEC pitcher this season, matching the record previously set by LSU’s Anthony Eyanson. Following this outstanding performance, he received multiple accolades, being named the USA Baseball Golden Spikes Award Week 13 Player of the Week, the SEC Pitcher of the Week, and the National Pitcher of the Week by Perfect Game and the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association.
