STARKVILLE, Miss. — The Mississippi State men’s basketball program in Starkville added a second commitment to its Class of 2027 on Thursday morning, when small forward Jalen White chose the Bulldogs.
White stands 6-foot-6 and weighs 195 pounds. He plays prep basketball at Bella Vista Prep and has lived in both Las Vegas and Scottsdale, Arizona. Twelve other Division I programs had offered him, among them Oklahoma State, Oregon, St. Louis and Washington, and his last three choices were Mississippi State, Washington and Kansas.
National recruiting rankings rate White as a four-star prospect with a grade of 90. That rating makes him the country’s No. 29 small forward for 2027, No. 11 among Arizona prospects and No. 109 in the entire national class.
His junior season ended with a 26-4 record for his prep team. White was one of several recruits who visited campus during home football weekends this fall as Bulldogs coach Chris Jans and his assistants worked to build on two straight strong recruiting hauls.
He is the first forward to join the 2027 group. The only other commitment so far is Jacquez Mitchell, a four-star combo guard from Tulsa, Oklahoma, who pledged in August. Mitchell, listed at 6-foot-3 and 180 pounds, ranks as the No. 26 combo guard in the class and the second-best prospect in Oklahoma, and he turned down offers from Arizona State, Ole Miss and TCU among others.
Before any of the 2027 signees arrive, the current Bulldogs roster has its own season to play, and that opener is coming up soon on the schedule.
