This enthusiastic start was fueled by a double-header victory held at the charming Rula Tennis Pavilion.

Double Wins, Double Trouble for Opponents

The Bulldogs kicked off their action-packed day with a match against the UAB Blazers, where they triumphed with a score of 4-1. This victory was particularly sweet as it marked the 21st consecutive win for MSU against UAB, improving their longstanding home record to an impressive 20-2.

This exhilarating win set the stage for their follow-up match against the Arkansas State Red Wolves, which again ended in a convincing 4-1 win for Mississippi State. With this victory, the Bulldogs extended their unbeaten streak against Arkansas State, boasting an 8-0 all-time record against them.

Highlight Reel from the UAB Match

In the doubles competition against UAB, Maria Rizzolo and Carolina Troiano put their game faces on and secured a win against Nera Tesankic and Mackenzie White with a score of 6-3. Meanwhile, Jayna Clemens and Chiara Di Genova delivered a resounding 6-1 victory over their opponents, Kristyna Damaskova and Klara Kajabova.

The singles matches saw Chiara Di Genova and Jayna Clemens both taking their opponents down, winning their respective matches with scores of 6-2, 7-5 and 6-3, 7-5. But the real drama came with Gianna Oboniye, who bounced back after losing the first set to clinch the match for MSU by overcoming Gresi Bajri with a final score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-1.

On to Arkansas State

After a brief break, the Bulldogs were charged up and ready to square off against Arkansas State. The momentum from earlier was palpable, as they confidently took to the court. Rizzolo and Troiano began the doubles matches with style, pulling off a 6-4 victory against Lily Cvanciger and Hanmare McAslin. Not far behind, Gianna Oboniye along with Athina Pitta put on an impressive performance, winning 7-6(2) against Anna Grigoreva and Carla Muro Catellvi.

The singles matches continued the Bulldogs’ success, as Gianna OboniyeAnna Grigoreva in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3, followed closely by Athina Pitta who won against Hanmare McAslin with the same score. The spotlight then turned to Carolina Troiano, who wrapped up the day with a decisive 6-4, 6-3 victory over Sarah Millard, marking her third match-clinching win of the season.
