Since his appointment, the Bulldogs have added multiple skilled players through recruiting and transfers, bolstering their roster as they prepare for the upcoming season.

Among the standout newcomers is Jack Bauer, a highly regarded high school pitching prospect ranked No. 17 nationally for the class of 2025. Bauer, known for his impressive fastball that has been clocked at 100 mph, has committed to Mississippi State after previously considering Virginia. His addition could significantly impact the team’s pitching depth, especially with only two other high school pitchers ranked higher than him for the upcoming MLB Draft.

Mississippi State has also secured several talented transfers, including:

Tomas Valincius, a freshman left-handed pitcher from Virginia, who boasts a record of 6-1 and a 4.59 ERA with 70 strikeouts in 64.2 innings.
Maddox Webb, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from The Citadel, earned First-Team All-SoCon honors in 2025, finishing with a 4-1 record and a 4.04 ERA across 24 games, striking out 61 in 55.2 innings.
Jackson Logar, a sophomore right-handed pitcher from James Madison, who pitched 74 innings as a full-time starter, achieving a 4-5 record and a 3.53 ERA.

In addition to pitching reinforcements, the Bulldogs have strengthened their offensive lineup with the recruitment of several athletes, including:

James Nunnallee, a freshman outfielder from Virginia, who participated in 48 games with a .296 batting average, one home run, and 26 RBIs.
Vytas Valincius, a senior outfielder from Illinois, who finished the previous season with a .348 batting average, seven home runs, and 58 RBIs.
Aidan Teel, a sophomore outfielder from Virginia, started all 50 games while earning Third-Team All-ACC honors with a .317 batting average and 40 RBIs.
Ryder Woodson, a freshman infielder from North Carolina State, who appeared in 23 games, finishing with a .333 batting average.
Chone James, a freshman infielder and catcher from Virginia, participated in 26 games, hitting .373 with five doubles and 11 RBIs.

Since the NCAA transfer portal opened on June 2, Mississippi State has seen an influx of players from Virginia, including a total of eight transfers. This trend underscores Coach O’Connor’s strong connections and recruiting strategy, which appears to be bearing fruit in a short time.
