Starkville, Mississippi – Ace Reese and Noah Sullivan, standout players from Mississippi State University’s baseball team, have been named first team All-Americans by the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA). This prestigious recognition highlights the exceptional talent and performance of both athletes in the 2023 collegiate baseball season.

Ace Reese has been acknowledged as a third baseman, while Sullivan has been recognized as a utility player, showcasing his versatility both on the field and at bat. The pair’s selection as All-Americans comes shortly after being named to the ABCA/Rawlings South All-Region team, marking this as an outstanding week for both players.

This accolade represents the second All-American honor for Reese this season, as he was also appointed to Perfect Game’s third team earlier in the week. Throughout his inaugural season at Mississippi State, Reese has had a remarkable impact, starting 57 games and achieving a batting average of .352. He amassed 80 hits, with 18 doubles and 21 home runs, leading to a total of 66 RBIs.

Reese has displayed consistent performance with a total of 163 bases and an impressive slugging percentage of .718. His season included 25 multi-hit games, 20 multi-RBI games, and five multi-homer games, further establishing him as a formidable player. He earned the title of SEC Newcomer of the Year and was included in the first team All-SEC. Within the Southeastern Conference, Reese ranks second in slugging percentage, third in home runs and total bases, fourth in doubles, sixth in RBIs, seventh in hits, and eighth in batting average.

Noah Sullivan, who started all 59 games this season, has shown similar prowess, finishing the season with a batting average of .345. Sullivan tallied 70 hits, 16 doubles, 15 home runs, and contributed 46 RBIs. His performance includes an exceptional .475 on-base percentage, placing him third in the SEC rankings.

In addition to his batting capabilities, Sullivan has also made contributions on the mound. He started seven midweek games, achieving an impressive 1.96 earned run average (ERA) while recording 15 strikeouts and allowing only three walks over 18 1/3 innings. Despite his solid performances, he did not record a decision during his pitching appearances.

With the enshrinement of Reese and Sullivan as All-Americans, Mississippi State’s total All-American players has now reached 58, with 161 All-American honors overall, with the exception of Freshman All-Americans. Last season, teammates Jurrangelo Cijntje and Dakota Jordan were recognized as second team All-Americans, while Khal Stephen received third team honors.

As the Diamond Dawgs continue to make history and showcase their talent on the baseball field, fans and supporters can follow the team’s progress and receive updates through their official website or social media platforms dedicated to Mississippi State baseball.
