BATON ROUGE, La. — Mississippi State soccer plays its final regular-season road match Sunday at LSU in Baton Rouge, La., and the Bulldogs carry a score to settle with the Tigers from last fall.

Kickoff at LSU Soccer Stadium is set for 2 p.m. Central, with the match on SEC Network. LSU will be playing on its home field for the final time before the postseason, and the Tigers plan to honor five seniors before kickoff.

The Bulldogs come in at 8-2-5 overall and 2-1-5 in Southeastern Conference play, while LSU is 4-9-3 and 2-4-2 in the league. The Tigers are fresh off a 4-3 comeback win against Texas A&M and are fighting to lock up a place in the SEC Tournament field.

The last time these programs met, LSU knocked Mississippi State out of the 2025 SEC Tournament with a 3-1 win in the semifinals. That loss stung more than most for senior forward Rebeka Vega, who grew up in Lafayette and will be playing against the school from her home state.

Defense has defined this State team. The Bulldogs have given up just 12 goals in their first 15 matches, about 0.80 a game, and have posted seven shutouts. That list includes a 3-0 win over South Alabama, a 4-0 win over Southern Miss, and scoreless draws with Tennessee, Kentucky, South Carolina and Auburn. On the other end, State has scored 25 goals, led by forwards Hailey Johnson and Kati Anne Shepherd, with Laila Murillo adding five goals. The three have combined for 15 goals and 38 points.

History is on the Tigers’ side. LSU is 23-4-3 all-time against Mississippi State, and Sunday marks the 31st meeting between the two.
